WHY WEBER STATE
I saw Weber State as a place to get a great education at a low cost and that is what initially brought me here. I ended up receiving a supply chain management degree that provided me with an education far more valuable than I initially thought I would get. Compared to other schools, I believe that I will get a higher return on my educational investment through Weber State. Recently, I went to a business case competition in Minnesota, and while I was there I talked to students from other schools. I was surprised at the tuition costs, they were so much higher than at Weber State.
WHY SUPPLY CHAIN
I knew that I wanted a business degree. I started taking the business core classes, and I talked to some business professionals. I found there was a demand for supply chain professionals, especially now, with the tariffs and changes in supply chains throughout the world. My original plan was business administration, but I wanted to specialize in something. I liked the problem solving and continuous improvement aspects of SCM. It called my name and there was a need for it, so I decided to go that route.
PROFESSOR IMPACT
One thing I love about the SCM program is that, since it’s smaller, you get to know each and every one of the instructors. They're not only professors, they are also friends and people that have your back. They will help you out and go out of their way to make sure you are successful. Ben Neve has been wonderful. Hugo DeCampos is a new professor At Weber, but all the classes I've taken with him have been amazing. James Taylor expertly taught us many valuable lessons. Nancy Tomon helps run the program and is amazing at helping all the students out. I really don’t know how anything would get done without her. Every member of the SCM faculty benefited my 91风流 experience in some way.
WHAT'S NEXT
Currently, I'm at Hill Air Force Base as a Supply Planner. I do inventory management and supply planning for aircraft, with the supply chain management group. I started an internship last summer, and they let me stay part time until graduation. I'm hoping that will lead to a full-time position after college. The internship has been great, and getting real-world experience has been invaluable. I plan to continue working there and build my resume. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in the supply chain management world.
ADVICE FOR OTHER STUDENTS
Plan out your week. Have scheduled times to get things done and set goals and steps on how to achieve them. I wasn't always the best at this, but with full-time work and school, I was pretty busy. So every day I had to decide what I had to get done and how I was going to do it. intentionally planning the steps to accomplish your goals and following through with that plan is the key to success.
GRATITUDE
I have loved this experience – it’s been educational and I have received the value out of the degree that I was looking for and more. I have gained a lot of friends among the faculty and my peers. It's been an all-around amazing experience. I am a little sad it's ending now and that I will be starting the next chapter of my life. But it's exciting, and I'm grateful to the SCM program, and everyone that helped me get to where I am today. My wife and family have also been extremely supportive for me on this journey and I couldn’t have done it without them.
